Japan cm of the week - Lake-chaaan!
I've been meaning to post this commercial for a while, but haven't found it at a good resolution until now.
Anyway, this week's commercial is a spot for Lake Banking, staring the single-named Nanao (菜々緒) as the new Lake-chan. She isn't really being much of a spokesperson for Lake, more like what she's doing is telling the dude that it's OK to be selfish when picking a bank while appearing to lounge around in her living room, or maybe his... wait do they live together or something?
I have to admit that I'm not very familiar with Nanao, but I know she does do some modelling, appears in commercials, and is also in a bunch of local shows and does appear in guest panels on regular-channel variety programs from time to time.
This is kind of a cute commercial, and Nanao is definitely eye-catching, but I kind of feel sorry for Yu Yamada (山田優), who was in the Lake commercials for a long time and now I guess got traded in for a younger model. I think they're still even using her voice at the end of the commercial. Kind of sad.
OK, before I forget, here's one of her commercials, which I think is a bit more fun than the new one. But that's not surprising because Yu, whether acting, singing, or doing modelling work, has always seemed to be good at getting her cheerful personality to shine through.
