The streets are packed with... idols? (GXR A16)
That, above, is my favorite sign spot in Akihabara. You can see they have a cool Assassin's Creed 3 poster up, and under it we see Akiko Himenokoji from the overly long titled anime "As Long as There's Love, It Doesn't Matter If He is My Brother, Right" (お兄ちゃんだけど愛さえあれば関係ないよねっ - wiki page here and official page here), a rather creepy anime airing on TV right now.
I went in to Tokyo not to look at posters, but to see what kinds of deals they have for phones right now. And after walking around a bit I think I got more pictures than useful info. It was a good day for people and scenery watching.
My first surprise was to see how many idols were out and about. The group Alice 10 (アリス十番) was giving a free performance at 3. Unfortunately I couldn't stay for the show, but I got to meet one of the members of the unit. Well, I think she was one of the members. Check out their homepage (in the above link); they kind of look like a Japanese idol version of Hollywood Undead...
I had heard of them before. They're IMO a nice change from the usual idol troupes you see in Akiba.
She was handing out pamphlets for Tachibana Anna's homepage, but I'm not sure if it was really her under the mask. Cool look, though.
Heading onward I ran into an idol unit doing a mini outdoor live event in front of a gym:
They're a group from Ibaraki and seemed to be promoting the prefecture's agriculture. No one around seemed to know much more about them, but as is always the case, you put on a street show in Akihabara and the swarm of photographers is sure to appear.
It never ceases to amaze me what you see on the streets in Tokyo.
Another pic of Akiba's streets:

I'll leave with one last picture. Under the tracks a guy slowly gets ready for the night shift. I almost think this was my best pic of the day. I hope everyone had a great weekend.
I love the Ricoh colors. Lovely photographs.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I agree completely. The GXR always produces great colors.
