Views of a spider (GXR A16)
This friendly little lady (must be a female, I mean look at the size) has been collecting bugs near where I work in Abiko. I guess now I know why there've been so few mosquitoes this fall - because this one spider ate every last one.
Now that's a spider.
There've always been big spiders around in northern Chiba, but it seems like since I moved to Abiko I've seen more and more. Maybe because of all the other little bugs there are to eat.
These pics all look much better on Flickr. Click on them to go to my Flickr page and see the full size.
This last one is possibly the best focus-wise for the spider. I like how you can see the yellow stripes on her legs. I asked a coworker who knows about this kind of stuff and he said these spiders may be big and nasty and you wouldn't want to necessarily get bit, but their poison isn't dangerous to people. Thankfully.
