Pepsi - oh so special

There's been a lot of hubbub on the internet in the Japan watching community about Pepsi Special - the new fat reducing cola out on the market here. Kotaku did review of the cola a few days ago here (summary: it tastes like Pepsi Next, but not so special).

So as a somewhat fan of the poisonously good tasting Next I had to try it myself. Is this healthy cola as good as the special label?

In a word: Yes. It tastes sweet like normal Pepsi with a bit of the Next medicinal quality but not as much IMO. It also lasts fairly well - I opened it and had a few drinks, then took a train home and finished it later and my bottle of Special hadn't lost much in the fizziness or taste departments.

It also goes well with peanut M&Ms (trust me, very important).

I think we may have a winner here.

For the record, Pepsi Special is said to contain an undigestible fiber that supposedly limits the body's intake of fat. Does it work? No idea. But it does have a special government seal of approval so assuming it doesn't cause explosive diarrhoea I'm sold.
