Walking around Asakusa, you see a lot of interesting buildings. One thing I've always loved about the area and Tokyo in general is how mixed the construction is.

The Kappa Bashi shopping area, where you can buy everything from plastic models used in food displays to knife sets and bar stools. All of these shops lie under rows of old apartments.

Enter a back alley... and you find a lot of other stuff. This is about a block away from an old amusement park. Asakusa was an old amusement area in old days, before the war (and just after), full of bars, snack shops, massage parlors and all kinds of things.

Even now the mix of venues, styles of living places and shops is still very visible just across the street.

But even if you don't find what you're looking for, it's worth exploring for what you find along the way.
