Shinjuku street shots - GXR A16
Walking around the Shinjuku area you always get a chance to see a lot of different kinds of people. Here is a sample of street snapshots of the area and people passing by.
I'm no expert on taking pics of people, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it, learning how to blend in and not feel like a crazy person butting into people's lives.
To me the Shinjuku area has always been the most fascinating part of Tokyo. There is a lot of glitter and newness, fancy shopping arcades and boutiques, but walk over a few blocks from there and you find greasy spoon diners, ancient dilapidated ramen shops and row after row of stores selling used designer bags, ripoff watches, $3 neckties and just about everything you can imagine.
The station area itself always has a lot of activity. I think I've seen film crews doing interviews or live bands playing outside the Kabukicho exit nearly every time I've been there.
It's a good place to go to get lost in a crowd, find yourself among the masses of humanity.
