Going around Gotanda - GXR A16

This weekend I took the ole GXR out with the new A16 lens unit, and headed in to Tokyo.

This time I headed for Gotanda (五反田), one of the southernmost stops on the Yamanote Line. The area has a huge mix of business - with ritzy upscale apartments and Meiji Gakuin University on the north side, and a mess of eateries and shops on the south side.

Above: two views of the trains above the streets. I love the paint job on this particular train.

Here's a little shop we stopped at to get some awesome miso kushi katsu - batter fried pork skewers. The food was really good, and it had a nice atmosphere, too.

Tho I knew the place would be good just by sitting down, only to see a familiar ad poster.

For people interested in the camera, I'd say these pics show it can handle bright daylight and city scenes just as well as the dim interior of a restaurant. The GXR also excels when it comes to color accuracy and of course detail.
