Japan cm of the week - Rola for dmm

This commercial for DMM Securities (DMM証券) has two things going for it: is's just as quirky as all of their ads and the cute model/talet Rola. Sure, it doesn't tell you anything about the service at all... and to be honest I'm not 100% sure of what they do there myself. I think it's stock/bond online trading service. But she's cute and it does make you want to click on the link and see what's going on. So it works.

Rola, to anyone who's seen any variety TV in Japan lately, has been making the rounds on every TV show you can think of. Her schtick of course being that while she's fluent in Japanese she speaks in a mildly impolite way to everyone including the biggest names on TV, and they all forgive her because she's so cute.

Rola grew up in Japan, and is of mixed Bangali, Japanese and Russian descent. Of course part of her popularity is because she's the latest ButNotTooForeign TV talent - as in she's got just enough different about her from most of the faces you see on TV to be different but not too much so - which is very popular on Japanese TV and in anime and manga.

But you can't deny she's very cute and charming, and IMO actually talented.

Here's her blog: Rola Official Blog OK! OK!

And if you're still not convinced of her ability to rule the world with pure cuteness and her beautiful eyes, here is her singing Call Me Maybe, in a mixing of Japanese and American memes that's almost dangerous. I think if they'd interspersed clips of a cat doing funny stuff into this video it would've caused the world to explode instantly.
