I've always liked the area around Kashiwa Station. It's both old and new, falling apart restaurants probably made in the 60's stand beside brand new shopping malls.

Pan back and you see the whole picture. The coffee shop on the corner as well as the Taiyaki shop in the 1st pic have been there since before I first got off the station and walked past them 14 years ago.

There's always a new sight to see down every street, around every corner. When I first walked around all I can remember is getting lost all the time. Everything was so different but all seemed to blend together to my eyes, just getting used to Japan.

Coming from a small town in the middle of nowhere, Illinois to here was a huge adjustment to me, but you know what they say, how ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm once they've seen Karl Hungus?

Or two cans of coffee, abandoned but not alone...
